Was born in 1975 into a musical family. Studied at a special music school at the St. Petersburg State Conservatory, then in Paris at the Higher National Conservatory (class of Prof. Alain Marion) and at the St. Petersburg State Conservatory (class of Prof. GP Nikitin). In 2002 he completed his postgraduate studies at the Higher School of Music in Munich (class of Prof. Andras Adorjan).
In 1993, Denis Lupachev became a laureate of the Virtuosi 2000 festival (Russia), in 1997 he received a special jury prize at the international flutist competition in Kobe (Japan), in 1999 he won the Leonardo de Lorenzo international competition (Italy).
Since 1998 he has been a soloist with the Mariinsky Theater Orchestra.
Has appeared as a soloist with the Mariinsky Theater Orchestra and conductors Gianandrea Noseda, Tugan Sokhiev and Mikhail Agrest. He also performed with the Moscow State Academic Chamber Orchestra, the Yekaterinburg Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, the Novosibirsk Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra and many other Russian orchestras.
Denis Lupachev
regularly gives concerts in collaboration with pianist Peter Laul at the Small Hall of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Society and the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theater.
In 2016, he founded the annual festival "Virtuosos of the Flute", in which Emmanuel Paju, Denis Buryakov, Walter Auer, Julien Bodimant, Matvey Demin have already taken part.
In 2019 he took part in the first “Festival of Baroque and Chamber Music” in Sochi.
His new audio recording of 20th Century Flute Sonatas will be released by Naxos in 2020.
